Our Story
It all began in one of the remote mountain villages of the Aegean, amidst the stone walls you see in these photographs. Our story stretches back to those early days when the nomadic Yörük culture gave way to a connection with the land, when hands became calloused and tables filled with abundance. When our ancestors settled on these steep slopes, they transformed the wild olive trees in the mountains into the Memecik olive groves under whose shade we rest today, one by one. Initially, our ancestors earned their living entirely through livestock farming, but over time, olive cultivation became their second main source of income.
Our elders' lives were always filled with struggle. Their biggest problem was not being able to sell the products they produced and cultivated at a fair price. Because of this, our village experienced migration for many years. The younger generation left the land where they were born and raised in search of a better future and fairer conditions.
I am one of those young people. Although I lived away from my village for years, my connection to my roots and to production never broke. Now, I believe the time has come to return to those secluded paths and reclaim the legacy of our fathers' and grandfathers' labor.
Sapalan is more than just a name for us; it's the story of a mountain village, of the struggle waged on those remote roads. Our aim is not only to share our own produce, but also to protect the labor of every villager who sweats on this land and cherishes their trees.
Our products:
- Our olive oil comes from the shade of centuries-old Memecik trees.
- Our honey comes from the natural vegetation of these mountains.
- Our figs and other products come from the collective hard work of this village.
We believe nature has a calendar. That's why we don't delay our products at any stage; we deliver them to you in their purest form, just as nature offers them.
- During the season when olive oil is pressed,
- During the honey harvesting period,
- The fig is at its freshest, right when it's picked from the tree.
Sapalan is our debt to our past and our hope for the future. We invite you to be a part of this journey and our family.
